The wedding that started with a nervous call.

Ava's first call is when their wedding started for us: A bride who had planned so meticulously and now faced her wedding without one of her most wanted features: a tattoo service for friends and family. The worried voice said it all - a last minute cancellation giving all the wrong kind of butterflies!

So when we were able to shuffle some appointments, get urgent registration and inspection done and dusted, all in time for the big day - we felt like we had honoured the sisterhood!

Towards the end of a summer full of parties, festivals and weddings we get used to long drives and demanding divas. But by the end of the day, after closed motorways, stop start traffic for over four hours, it was clear we had made the right call as we drove off road and crossed the bridge over the stunning weir. Whitebottom farm was everything the website had promised and Ava and Shaun were so much more!

The bride over the phone had sounded worried and fretful, the wife who met us was beautiful, confident and radiated joy. Their day had brought happy tears to many of their family who recounted to us special memories from their lives together and moments they had treasured from the wedding day.

Stepping into the breach!

At Enigma we understand just how much advance planning goes into a big wedding; After all, we have bookings three years in advance! Ava and Shaun had already planned to include tattooing and piercing as part of the wedding experience. It was not a last-minute gimmick. It was something she wanted on the day, something that fitted the feel of the celebration.

When she was let down, we were glad we could help. Not all heroes wear capes, some come in a big pink Mercedes!

A six hour service with a four hour drive either side is not for lightweights, but the distance did not matter once we arrived and the couple, their people and the vibe made it feel like a party and the drive home was full of laughs, Steph searching for some of the guests' shoes to add to her collection and sharing stories the guests had told us about as they got their ink.

Good people and easy energy!

The tattoo and piercing service became part of the flow of the day rather than a distraction from it. Guests came over, had a chat, asked questions, and enjoyed the chance to mark the occasion in a personal way.

For us, this wedding made our job seamless! The bride had planned well in advance to ensure that the service provided her guests with everything the needed:

  • A guest list to ensure that her nearest and dearest were prioritised.

  • Provided her guests with clear information about how to choose their tattoo or piercing and their position on the list

  • Made sure that all guests were prepared to complete their consent forms.

  • They had given us their completed couple's questionnaire to help us personalise their service in advance

Every detail mattered, from the setup to how the service fitted into the day.

Being invited into someone’s wedding day is always a privilege. Providing a tattoo and piercing service at a beautiful wedding carries extra responsibility because of the permanence. Those small pieces and piercings become tied to the day, the people and the shared memories.

This wedding had everything we love about our event work. Thank you Ava and Shaun - what started with a nervous call, turned into one of the best memories of our 2026 season.

We look forward to seeing you at the anniversary bash!
